Sugar and Spice ..... not quite

Some days my girl is the epitome of opposites, all girlie girl one minute and crazy redneck farm girl the next. Yesterday she came to camp out in my office and start her day with me. All sleepy eyed with pink princess pj's and shiny blond hair. She was snugly and warm and all girl. She then went down to eat breakfast and feed her kittens and check on the rest of the animal life around this place.

An hour or so later she comes back to check on me. She sits in the chair across from my desk and we chat a bit. Her dad comes in and we all chat. Finally, my guy starts to leave and she gets this cheeky little grin on her face. I said, 'You need to go, I've got work to do." She says, "I'm waiting for Dad to leave, I want to show you something."

I wasn't sure what to expect, some new battle scar from the kittens, or a new hairdo she's trying out, you never know with this girl.

Nothing could have prepared me for the show n tell on this day!

She smiles as big as Texas and says, "Look....... bird foot!:

Sure enough, there it was, a bird ..... foot. I tried not to think about the cat feast that went on all through the night consuming everything but the leftover souvenir of one creepy bird foot.

That's my girl. And, she loves me so much she had to share.

Can't wait to see what treasures tomorrow brings.

Golf lesson

I look out the window and my heart is warmed to see my guy and our two gifts from God out playing golf in the front yard. It's dusk and they look so sweet.

A few minutes later my guy comes in alone. He says, "I just don't know if I'm cut out to handle this sometimes." He's frustrated. hmmm Not the scene I thought it was.

What's up? I'm trying to show him a few things and he just won't listen.

Minutes later, the troops come rolling in. The boy is raging.

He says, "I'm so frustrated! I wanted to go out and play a little golf and Dad turned it into BOOTCAMP."

Now I've never been to bootcamp, nor has the boy that I'm aware of. I have, however, had a golf lesson, which didn't really feel like my idea of bootcamp.

Not sure what happened between my twilight scene and the bootcamp fallout but it validates once again, this parenting thing isn't for wimps. There really should be a better manual for this.
